There’s something you should know: heartburn and acid indigestion aren’t just triggered by food. Ready yourself with some hot tips and fun facts so your symptoms don’t get in the way of the good stuff.
Avoid tight-fitting clothing that may put pressure on your abdomen. Also, avoid white after Labor Day (for some reason). Eat slowly. Eat small. Eat often. When you think about it, this could mean, “Eat all the time.” How cool is that?
Avoid eating while lying down. This will keep heartburn-causing acids from settling in. It could also save you from awkward spills and stains.
Don't lie down for at least 2-3 hours after eating. If you do, keep your head elevated (at least 4-6 inches) above your feet by raising the head of your bed. If the moon is full, turn your bed to the east. (We made up that last one, but try it anyways, let us know if it helped.)
Try sleeping in a chair for daytime naps. (Okay, we know you probably don’t have time to nap, but this kind of gives you permission. Just tell people, “I must nap. It’s a medical thing.”)
Relieve the stress in your life. Take up something soothing such as yoga, meditation, golf, painting or Scream Camp‡.
(‡Not a real camp, but wouldn’t it be awesome if it was?)
